Labor Partnership Career Opportunities

If you are a SEIU member there are a variety of career development and training opportunities available to you. The SEIU -West & Joint Employer Education Fund offers free career counseling, pre-requisite courses, professional development courses, academic support services, and a Nurse/Professional & Technical Education Stipend program.

Examples of pre-requisite/career preparation courses offered include:

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Elementary Algebra
  • Microbiology
  • Medical Terminology

The Nurse/Professional Technical Education Stipend Program offers stipends to enable employees to reduce the number of hours they work so that they may focus that time on school. Stipends are generally awarded to employees who are enrolled in programs where Kaiser has a critical need and job openings are anticipated upon graduation of school.

Kaiser and the Education Fund also offer Upgrade Skills training programs to eligible SEIU members. Examples of past/present programs include Unit Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Lab Assistant, Sterile Processing Technician, Surgical Technician, and Medical Coding Specialist.
